ARTIST STATEMENT

My goal is to portray, through figurative painting, the emotions, interactions and mysteries of life. Starting with simple subjects, I hope to create accessibility for the viewer to relate to something in the painting that they recognize or respond to personally.

BIOGRAPHY

NancyWiley

After many years of creating sculptures, dolls, and puppets, Nancy Wiley is returning to her first creative calling – painting. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, she majored in illustration and has always loved painting in oils. Influenced by her artist brother, William Wiley, she began making doll sculptures in the early 90s. Later she illustrated several storybooks with 3D illustrations.

After many life changes, Wiley is now living in Rochester, NY, and is focused on painting for its own sake – starting with the people and places she sees around her.  She is grateful and excited to have the space to follow this path and see where it leads.
